Scottish Highland Games and Celtic Festival
 

The Highland Games on the Mississippi Coast were originally created by the Scottish Society of the Gulf Coast in 1985. Highlands and Islands Association of Celtic Gatherings was formed to continue the games in 1990. Over the past 23 years the games have been held in Biloxi at Hiller Park, the Mississippi Coast Coliseum and in Gulfport at the Harrison County Fairgrounds. This is the 24th year of Highland Games

Highlands and Islands Association of Celtic Gatherings, Inc. is a volunteer operated, non-profit 501(C)(3) charitable organization. The Scottish Highland Games and Celtic Music Festival is made possible through the generosity of our local citizens, businesses, organizations and civic institutions. Our regular meetings are held the 2nd Monday of each month at Beef O'Brady's 11010 Hwy 49, Gulfport behind CVS Pharmacy at 6:00 PM.

The organization’s advertising is created in partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Mississippi Development Authority. The purpose of the Association, Games and Festival is to promote Celtic Heritage.
 

Each year a portion of the proceeds of this event is donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in order to help find ways to save children.
 

In memorium - Ronald A. Courchen
 

M/Sgt Ronald A. Courchen, U.S.A.F. Retired, 65, of Biloxi passed away Friday, December 26, 2008 in Biloxi after fighting a long illness. Mr. Courchen was a resident of Biloxi since 1981 and a retired Air Force Veteran who served during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Courchen was a member and a former Games Chief of Highlands and Islands Association of Celtic Gatherings. He was employed with Casino Magic since its opening. Preceded in death by his son: George Courchen. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Myra Courchen of Biloxi, daughters: Yvonne Courchen of Mattoon, IL, Valerie Parker of Biloxi, sons: Andre Courchen of Las Vegas, NV, William Courchen of Columbus, OH and five grandchildren. Graveside service was held Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. in Biloxi National Cemetery. Members of Highlands and Islands Association attended. A Piper played for the service.
